HeyShop case study · Magento 2 → HeyShop
A French chocolatier's shop, rebuilt on HeyShop.
Laurent Bernard moved from Magento 2 to HeyShop in October 2026. The pages are 6–7× lighter, shoppers get a calmer way to choose and send a gift, and the team runs the day from one simple back office.

The client
Laurent Bernard is an artisan French chocolatier in Singapore since 2006: pralines, macarons, celebration cakes and champagne hampers, made by hand and delivered across the island on the day the customer chooses.
The challenge
The shop had run on Magento 2 for years. Over time it had collected more than 24 third-party extensions from 12 vendors for delivery dates, store pickup, checkout, search, menus and sliders, and every product page loaded more than 250 files.
Each change meant working around someone else's module, and the team ran orders from an admin built for every kind of shop rather than for theirs. Laurent Bernard wanted a store that felt as refined as the chocolates, was fast on a phone and was simple to run on a busy day.
What we did
We rebuilt the shop on HeyShop: a storefront designed around the brand, the features the shop relied on built in rather than bolted on, and one back office for the team. Then we moved everything across: customers with their passwords, every past order, products, reviews and every old URL. We rehearsed the switch until the final copy of the data took under a minute.
Before & after
Same cake. A different shop.
The Black Forest Cake page on Magento 2, and the same page on HeyShop: options you can see, and a price that updates as you choose.

What changed
Faster to load. Nicer to shop. Easier to run.
Faster
Pages a fraction of the size.
No pile of extensions loading on every page: one stylesheet, ten scripts and photos sized for each screen.
- 6–7× lighter pages
- 98 on mobile Lighthouse, 100 on desktop
- Zero layout shift while a page loads
Better to shop
Choosing a gift feels calm.
Every option on one clear panel, priced as you tap, with the details a gift needs written in plain words.
- Size and options as buttons, with the price change shown
- Message on the cake, candles and extras in one place
- Star ratings and reviews right on the product page
Easier to run
The day on one screen.
A back office built for how a chocolatier works: orders grouped by delivery slot, one tap to move each along.
- Today by delivery slot: prepare, ready, out, done
- Print the day's slips and gift cards in one go
- Refunds that restock by themselves

Category and product pages in desktop Chrome, compressed transfer size. Magento 2: measured on the live store on 27 Sep 2026 with the browser's Resource Timing, which stops counting at 250 files, so those figures are minimums. HeyShop: Lighthouse 12.8 on the live store on 10 Oct 2026; scores are the median of three mobile runs and one desktop run.
Operations
A back office made for a chocolatier.
The team opens one screen in the morning and sees what to prepare, what's ready and what's out, slot by slot. It works the same on a phone.

Today, by slot
To prepare, ready, out for delivery and done, for each delivery window.
Find any order
Search by name, phone or order number, including every order from the old store.
Print the day
Delivery slips and gift cards for the whole day in one go.
Refunds that restock
Refund in a click; a full refund puts the stock back and emails the customer.
Team accounts
Everyone signs in with their own password; the owner adds and removes people.
Changes on request
Ask HeySheep for a change from the back office and review it before it goes live.
Back-office pictures show demo orders, not real customers.
The move
Everything came across. Nobody had to start again.
Customers
Every account, and every customer signs in with the password they already had.
Orders
The full order history, checked order by order against Magento.
Catalogue
Products, options, photos, reviews and occasions.
Search rankings
All 1,272 old addresses lead to their new pages, so links and search rankings carry over.
